Chapter 1

"So, is that it? anything else I might need to write down?", I asked. I was volunteering for the free-style dance program conducted by our organization for charity. It was an event planning organization. I was always a fan of organizing and planning so I started working in this organization until I found an Angel Investor. I love my job. But, lately, I was starting to feel like I was not gaining enough experience. I wanted to talk to Ahana about this. She is the person under whom I am working. She is the manager of charity events like this. Our dance program was for an orphanage in dire need of funds. It needed new beds, books, and many other things so that kept me running.

I went with Ahana to the place where the event was taking place, it was this beautiful palace with a free garden space and we got it for a very small amount since it was for a charity event. I loved the place, it was peaceful. I was anxious about my talk with Ahana but the place made me feel confident for some reason. I stopped her while she was telling me or complaining to me about her boyfriend. Though she was my boss she never treated me like she was superior which made it even easier to become friends. "So, I was thinking if I could contribute more to this project rather than just walking around and following orders....", I said. She stared at me for a few seconds and said, "Oh thank god, I was waiting for you to ask me that, if there is any rule in business it is "grab the opportunity before someone takes it away", I could use some help, How about you become the event head?". I was shocked, I shouted and jumped out of excitement and hugged her. "OK that's enough, people are looking at us", she said.

"Hey, I hope you will pull it off without your anxiety at its peaks". I shook my head and started noting down everything that needed to be done before the event tomorrow. I was on cloud nine. This was a rare opportunity and I can't thank Ahana enough for giving me such an incredible job. "Oh my god, she trusted me and she gave me such a huge job, What if I mess up?", I started overthinking it, and I started sweating. "This can't be happening what is wrong with me why was I getting so tensed, I got what I wanted". I took out my phone and called my mom. I told her about my talk with Ahana. "Wow, you asked her?, you really got the job? I am so shocked right now". "Mom I need you to encourage me, tell me that I can do it". "Of course, you can do it, stop talking and start working, you have things to get done". "Yes Mom, thanks, bye!".

I looked at my watch it was already 4 pm. I started calling the caterers and decorators and noted down the total number of volunteers I might need. I found a bench in the shade and went and sat there and started calling people to assign work. It was 24 hours till the event started but I felt confident that it's gonna work out for good. I realized there was something about this place, it made me feel comfortable and confident. It was a special place, I will always remember that this was where I first organized an event. I realized I need to report to Ahana and rushed from there.
